Anjalts
Singer, songwriter, producer. She composes, produces and plays everything on her tracks — from the Guyana rainforest to a city of artificial light.
“Magic isn't about wands or potions; it's the spark within us — the courage to dream, the will to transform, and the power to create beauty from the ordinary.”
Say it An-jolts.
01 · RAINFOREST, THEN THE CITY
Where the songs come from
As a child Anjalts often stayed with her grandparents in Guyana, the small country on South America's northern shoulder where nearly 87% of the land is still rainforest. Her family moved to New York when she was young, and by then she was already writing songs on piano and guitar.
The forest never left her heartspace. The title track of her debut, Air to Fire, was written as a poem first — the Amazon burning — and set to acoustic guitar. A Tree Sings, Enter the Forest and Cry of the Amazons live on the same record. Her book, In the Shadow of Giants, goes back to her Amazonian roots — the river, the tall trees and the Amerindian people who protected the rainforest and shared a vital lesson: balancing alongside nature in our everyday lives.
02 · ONE PERSON, EVERY PART
Composed, produced and played by
Every Anjalts record is made by one person: the guitars and keys she began on, the arrangements, her lead and background vocals, all the way to the final mix. She releases independently in partnership with her label, IXO Music, New York (ASCAP), and the masters are finished at studios from Abbey Road in London to the in-house IXO Music studios.
Air to Fire arrived in February 2023 as a rare album entirely produced by a woman from first note to last. The ballad Calling Out was improvised at the piano and kept as a live take. Alternative pop, new wave and pop-rock are the nearest names that begin to define the Anjalts sound; her songs change shape when the words ask them to. A quiet place from the heart.
